COVID-19 Update 83 with Roger Seheult, MD of https://www.medcram.com Oxidative stress may play a key role in the severity of COVID-19 infection. A variety of studies have demonstrated how high sugar intake (and fructose in particular – such as high fructose corn syrup) contributes not only to oxidative stress but to the inactivation of a usable form of vitamin D as well. Join Dr. Seheult for illustrations of how these pathways work.
Does vitamin D help protect against COVID-19?A: Some scientists have hypothesized vitamin D might be helpful, but there is no direct evidence that vitamin D can prevent COVID-19 or lessen disease severity. Nevertheless, it should be part of a healthy lifestyle.
Very Low activated (by the liver and kidneys) vitamin D occurring in some local populations does cause many problems for the body and the immune system. Since activated vitamin D is a known moderator of inflammation this could a red flag for severe Covid19 cytokine storm. From from the video above, high fructose can block activation of Vitamin D, but if you eat garlic and onion?? Wait for the end of the video 🙂
